Iconaclast  In rebellion against the old religion and the powerful priests of Amun , Akhenaten ordered the eradication of all of Egypt's traditional gods . He sent royal officials to chisel out and destroy every reference to Amun and the names of other deities on tombs, temple walls, and cartouches to instill in the people that the Aten was the one true god.
As Christianity spread, it acquired certain members from well-educated circles of the Hellenistic world ; they sometimes became bishops. They produced two sorts of works, theological and apologetic , the latter being works aimed at defending the faith by using reason to refute arguments against the veracity of Christianity. These authors are known as the Church Fathers , and study of them is called patristics . Notable early fathers include Ignatius of Antioch , Polycarp , Justin Martyr , Irenaeus , Tertullian , Clement of Alexandria , and Origen .
The Ante-Nicene period saw the rise of a great number of Christian sects , cults and movements with strong unifying characteristics lacking in the apostolic period . They had different interpretations of Scripture , particularly the divinity of Jesus and the nature of the Trinity . Many variations in this time defy neat categorizations, as various forms of Christianity interacted in a complex fashion to form the dynamic character of Christianity in this era. The Post-Apostolic period was diverse simon keren both in terms of beliefs and practices. In addition to the broad spectrum of general branches of Christianity, there was constant change and diversity that variably resulted in both internecine conflicts and syncretic adoption.  The Council of Jerusalem or Apostolic Council was held in Jerusalem around AD 50. It is unique among the ancient pre-ecumenical councils in that it is considered by Catholics to be the first ecumenical council and by Orthodox to be a prototype and forerunner of the later ecumenical councils . Both Catholics and Orthodox regard it as expressing a key part of Christian doctrine and moral teaching. The council decided that gentile converts to Christianity were not obligated to keep most of the Law of Moses , including the rules concerning circumcision of males . The council did, however, arguably retain prohibitions on eating meat sacrificed in pagan rites, on fornication and on idolatry . These decisions are sometimes referred to as the Apostolic Decree.
First Council of Nicaea (325) First Council of Constantinople (381) We believe in one God , the Father Almighty , Maker of all things visible and invisible. We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God , begotten of the Father [the only-begotten ; that is, of the essence of the Father, God of God,] Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father ; And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds (æons) , Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; By whom all things were made [both in heaven and on earth]; by whom all things were made; Who for us men, and for our salvation , came down and was incarnate and was made man; who for us men, and for our salvation, came down from heaven , and was incarna...
PRAY LIKE "OLD CAMEL KNEES"! These are troubled, difficult and yes - evil times. These are times where leaders of  society- from the highest to the lowest- call "good evil" and "evil good" (see Isaiah  5 :20).  But you and I are not to be like those whose souls are storing up wrath for the Day of Judgment. We called to  a life of Holiness, Righteousness and right communication with the Father day seals that for us. The half brother of the Lord Jesus Christ - since they had the same earthly mother Mary - is the Apostle James.   He, James, was one of Jesus' five half brothers and sisters who did NOT believe He was the Messiah until after the Resurrection. Jude is the other one. The proof of their salvation are the two New Testament Epistles that they wrote - The Books of James and Jude! The Lord chose James to head up the main church - the one in Jerusalem and James is prominent in the early church right after Peter, Jo...
